Strawberry Fruit Sauce Belgian Waffles

These waffles freeze well, cool completely on a wire rack and store between sheets of wax or parchment paper in a freezer bag. Frozen waffles can be reheated in a toaster oven.

Ingredients

  • 2 pouches GoGo squeeZ® Apple Strawberry Fruit Sauce
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • ¾ cup milk of choice
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Directions

Preheat waffle maker according to manufacturer’s directions.

Beat egg yolks, milk, fruit sauce and butter together in a bowl.

In another large grease-free bowl whip egg whites until stiff peaks form, set aside.

In a separate bowl mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and whisk just until combined. Fold in the egg whites.

Pour the appropriate amount of batter for the size of your waffle maker onto the griddle, approximately ¾ cup of batter, spread around, close lid and cook until no more steam is escaping. Serve immediately.
