Did you know that you can easily turn fruit sauce into pie filling, how about mixed berry turnovers for a weekend treat!

Ingredients

  • 3 pouches GoGo squeeZ® Apple Berry fruit sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¼ cup golden corn syrup
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten plus 1 tbsp. water
  • 1 cup of icing sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

1
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
2
Whisk together the cornstarch with the water, add to a heavy bottom pot over medium heat, add the fruit sauce, corn syrup, and frozen blueberries, stirring slowly to combine.
3
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes. Allow to cool 10 minutes before filling puff pastry.
4
Unroll puff pastry sheets, cut into 6” squares approximately. Add a heaping tablespoon of blueberry filling to the center of each square.
5
Fold over pastry diagonally to make triangles, use a fork to press edges together to seal. Brush with beaten egg wash.
6
Bake for 22-25 minutes or until golden brown. Whisk together the icing sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, set aside. Remove turnovers from oven and allow to cool on baking sheet 3 minutes before drizzling with icing.

*TIP* Want to make a berry pie instead, increase the amount of filling by adding another pouch of fruit sauce and another cup of frozen berries to this recipe. Use store-bought frozen pie shells and follow instructions on box.
8
You can also swap the frozen blueberries for your favourite frozen fruit.

*We used 2 rolls of President’s Choice Butter Puff Pastry for this recipe to make 8 turnovers.
